Our story

Down to Earth is a South African company producing a natural and organic range of ointments to treat ailments and skin conditions. We were founded in 1997 by a Medicinal Herbalist and the therapeutic blends of botanical actives in our products are based on his thorough scientific findings. The potent ability of the plant and herbal extracts delivers optimum healing and offers an affordable alternative to conventional topical medicines.

We are based in KwaZulu-Natal and have been proud to deliver our herbal remedies and promote wellness in our local and international community. In 2014 we improved our formulations through research and development, updated our brand and re-launched our products. Down to Earth holistically and naturally cares for people with pain, skin conditions and abrasions, through products that can be used without side-effects.

Being ethical and environmentally friendly is important to us. We are proud to be cruelty-free and endorsed by Beauty Without Cruelty. Our products are devoid of harmful ingredients such as petrochemicals, mineral oils, parabens and artificial fragrances. Our products are perfectly pH balanced for skin, adding to the tolerability that plant extracts offer the skin and are freely biodegradable, helping Mother Nature deal with what we wash down the drain.The high plant sterol content provides powerful anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-ageing properties. All products are vegan with the exception of the African Potato Cream which contains beeswax.

The manufacturing processes used to make our products are of the highest standard and maintain ingredient purity. The product packaging is recyclable.
