Ancient Forest Tree Mists

The Tree Mists are handcrafted by Melissa Krige, custodian of Platbos Forest since 2005. By blending the therapeutic infusions of her African Tree Essences with oils derived from the wild Fynbos of the Cape Floral Kingdom, she has created a truly unique product that captures the essence of Africa.
The Tree Mists each enhance a different quality of being. For example, the Cherry Wood Tree Mists brings calm while the Wild Peach Tree Mists fosters quiet confidence and focus. Each Tree Mist is further enhanced by a blend of beautiful, pure Fynbos and Tree-derived essential oils. A further synergy is added in the form of a Colour Essence - these are vibratory in nature and carry the energetic properties of the particular colour.
Melissa holds individual and group retreats at Platbos. It is her great love and privilege to facilitate the spiritual meeting of people and trees. She lives with her family at Platbos Forest where she and her husband, Francois Krige, initiated the Platbos Reforestation Project in 2006.

The Mystical Mists

The Mystical Mists – Whale Song Wisdom and Lion StarGate – combine Platbos Flower Essences with Gem and Crystal Essences. The Whale Song Wisdom Essence was co-created with the gentle Southern Right Whales that birth and nurse their young off the coast of DeKelders each year.
The LionStarGate Mist is created from a Fynbos plant, Leonitis leonurus – Lion's Ear – found growing on the edge of Platbos. Unlike their usual orange flower colour, the new shrub's flowers are the exact colour of a White Lion's mane – blonde and pale. The mist holds the crystal essences of two Messina crystals, created on the full moon. The following day they were again charged in the full sun when Regulus, Heart Star of Leo, was in direct alignment with the sun. It is fragranced with the Lion's Ear essential oil amongst others.

Platbos Forest

Growing between Gansbaai and Stanford in the Western Cape, Platbos is an ancient indigenous forest whose presence there is somewhat of a botanical mystery. With neither spring nor river to sustain it, the forest draws its moisture from the early morning mists that bathe its canopy in the hot summer months.
For Nature and forest lovers, it will come as no surprise to hear that scientific research now proves that forests hold measurable health-benefits for us. For instance, a walk in a forest relieves stress, depression and high blood pressure. The healing, it seems, is held in the aromatic particles of the forest air and the harmonious vibrations of the trees themselves.
Platbos Forest is open to visitors who may walk or stay in a variety of accommodation options set beneath the canopy of its age-old trees.
