Lavender Hydrosol - How to use it

An introduction to Lavender Hydrosol

By Andrea from Mai Co.

Mai Co has recently started making various hydrosols and often get asked 'how do I use this?', so here are a few recommendations..

Lavender Hydrosol is above all a balancer. It balances the dryness or oiliness of skin, reduces tension, settles emotions, calms and uplifts. It works wonderfully to relieve tension, headaches and insomnia. It contains no preservatives.

Skin Care uses:
Lavender Hydrosol is gentle and balancing for all skin types. It can be used to cool summer's heat, soothe sunburn, heal irratations, cleanse and tone all skin types gently and safely. It also has strong regenerative capacities. It is recommended for normal, fragile, mature or damaged skin. Spray on to help ease the pain of sunburn/windburn and counter the itching effects of insect bites. Spray on skin before and after hair removal or shaving to reduce inflammation and prevent ingrown hairs.

Stress reduction:
Use as a compress on shoulders, neck and forehead to relieve headaches, tension, stress and mental fatigue. It is relaxing and revitalising, adapting to your body and psyche's need. Helps in calming crankiness and irritability just by adding to bath water or spraying on bed linens. Spray on pillow just before bedtime to help relieve insomnia.

Babies and Children:
Lavender Hydrosol can be used to cleanse and cut scrapes. Like Roman Chamomile Hydrosol, the Lavender Hydrosol is safe to use in infants bathwater, on diaper rash or as a baby wipe.
For Mommies:
Lavender Hydrosol can be used to help heal stitches from birth or episiotomies. It is also great to help calm general nerves when feeling overwhelmed!

General Hydrosol Information:
Hydrosols, also known as floral waters, are a by-product of the process used to make essential oils. Hydrosols contain the essence of a plant in every drop, just like the essential oils, but in a milder form. They are suitable applications where essential oil would be too strong. Unlike essential oils that should be diluted prior to skin application, the hydrosols are water soluble and can be used directly on the skin without further dilution.
Hydrosols make excellent facial toners, body sprays, air fresheners and linen sprays.

Care of Hydrosols:
Store in a cool dark place. If not being used frequently store in the refrigerator to prolong shelf life.

Hydrosols are for external use only.
