Box Schemes in Cape Town, Gauteng and Kwazulu Natal

Box-schemes in Cape Town and surrounds, Gauteng and Kwazulu Natal.

Part of living a sustainable lifestyle for me means supporting local initiatives which offer seasonal, fresh and organic produce. Over the past few years, quite a few local box schemes have emerged so I’ve listed the ones I know of below:

Cape Town and surrounds:

Simply Wholesome:

Marcelle and Maurice Curtis offer organic dairy, free - range poultry and a weekly veggie delivery of seasonal organic vegetables in and around Cape Town. They are also to be found on various markets througout the week. Find out more here: www.shoporganic.co.za/simplywholesome

Ethical Co-op:

An online organic market, with a wide variety of products, including fresh organic fruit and vegetables, dairy, tea, seeds, household and body products.

They usually deliver on Thursdays to areas in and around Cape Town but can also deliver country-wide via courier. They also serve Stellenbosch and Somerset West.

Ganics:

All products are certified organic and boxes reflect the seasons in the produce that is available. Deliveries are made weekly in various Cape Town areas and ordering can be done online. Wild Organics:

Pop into Wild at Unit 29F, Gray St, Paarden Eiland, Cape Town, or ask them to deliver a bag of seasonal produce to the various locations in and around Cape Town. Harvest of Hope:

A project which helps support sustainable, healthy livelihoods through food gardens in Cape Town’s townships, Harvest of Hope delivers freshly picked, organically grown vegetables every Tuesday. The African Potato:

The African Potato offers weekly boxes filled with fresh, seasonal, organic herbs, fruit and vegetables in the Helderberg, Strand and Gordons Bay areas. Contact them on: 083 273 5535 or visit their website at www.theafricanpotato.co.za

Wensleydale Farms:

Wensleydale Farms deliver fresh organic produce on Wednesdays and Thursdays each week to various location including Rivonia, Fourways Gardens, Cedar Lakes, Parkhurst, Bryanston Organic Market, Randpark Ridge, Northcliff and Craighall Park. Dovehouse Farm Organics:
